KEY LEARNINGS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

OFFROAD LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM - DEEP LEARNING AND CNN

LEAD ENGINEER AND PRINCIPAL MACHINE LEARNING ARCHITECT

The deep learning and convolutional neural networks subject required students to complete a semester long project. In my case, I was able to design and implement an end-to-end deep learning system to warn drivers of lane departure in off road conditions.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Winner of the 2022 UTS AI showcase (Best Project Use Case)

  • Awarded 99/100 marks in the Deep Learning and Convolutional Neural Networks subject due to the implementation of this project

  • Headed the design and implementation of the machine learning system and final application within a team of 2 students

  • Developed an end-to-end CNN product with a real-world use case

KEY LEARNINGS

  • Understood the complexities of designing and implementing a computer-vision based system in real-world environments where conditions are non deterministic

  • Greatly extended my understanding of how image processing techniques enable computer vision tasks to be accelerated by Convolutional Neural Networks

Software Engineering Studios (1A-3A)

TEAM LEAD

Software Studios were subjects in which students were tasked to complete semester long software projects that mimicked the development process in industry.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Successfully delivered on 5 complete software projects in which all client requirements were exceeded

  • Mediated different engineering opinions and courses of action from different group members

  • Facilitated team communication by leading bi-weekly stand-ups

  • Integrate student projects into the market by publishing completed works to the Web and App Store Marketplaces (Android and iOS)

  • Interfaced directly with clients to deliver on their business requirements

KEY LEARNINGS

  • Gained a valuable understanding of team dynamics, how to push teammates to do their best, and how to resolve conflicts of opinion

  • Developed a deep understanding of the vital process of requirements analysis

  • Strengthened my skills in team mediation and conflict resolution
